round 2

its worth blogging about your wedding week. but its also worth blogging about reception numba 2!
and so we begin..

after spending a fabulous honeymoon with my fam the next morning in boston,
we left quickly to spend even MORE time with them in cali in preparation for the reception.
my brother in law Hung came out to support us (momma nguyen hurt her hip so she had to stay in boston with Dung's help).. and since Hung never really got to do all the touristy things in cali we made sure he left with a smile and a tan on his face. so how did we do that?we ate mexican food and went to the beach.
Hung thought he was here to relax on his little vacay... but as soon as we got back.. he was put back to work putting together the second reception.
if you know anything about me and my family.. we are all about CHEAP and DIY. even walking around the store we can't help but say "i can make that, i can do that!" so.. does it surprise you that we didn't get catering, or a wedding planner, or a florist? nope. we even found a family friend from the ward to DJ our wedding.

flowers?? well i know i complained about the first wedding about me having to make bouquets and boutineers.. but i thought i was only going to do it once... but i was back to a REAL farmers market picking out flowers for not 3 bridesmaids.... 9 BRIDESMAIDS. it was on.. and hung and all my FAB provo friends went straight to work!
i left a majority of the decorations in the hands of my padres. problem? your idea may not get executed the way you want. so i was there ready to dictate and micro manage every thing.

with 100 degree weather and a bunch of BYU college students with NO decorating experience we were ready to make my reception a spin off of the blue bayou disneyland.

& of course we ran into problems....

centerpieces? because i am SO cheap.. i thought the center pieces (flowers) would be CHEAPER if they were fake.. FALSE. probably MORE expensive. rude. so AGAIN i was pulling branches and trees and neighbors flowers. it worked! i was proud! next morning??

DEAD

so with only an hour and a half before the reception and a day before mothers day i found some bomb flowers at a nearby grocery store for cheap! oh and my neighbors flowers and some cool looking weeds off the side of the freeway. ghetto? yes.. couldn't have done it any other way! and don't think long wasn't looking the other way the whole time i was pulling and tugging branches and weeds.
vases? well.. there was a miscommunication if we had any.. so straight to the $0.99 store we went!
(plastic) table cloths? well.. the color in the package looked a LIL different bundled up together than they do spread out.. and so... my wedding had JUST turned into a baby shower. baby galore! it was fab. easy problem to be fixed.

twinkling lights? it's hard being the only manly man in the fam bam but my dad tried with all his might to get the hanging lights to hang and not SCOOP peoples heads while eating. it just wasn't working poor guy. luckily having a 6'4" friend
comes in handy and he risked his life for twinkling lights as his jumped up on a lamp pole like a Samoan man picking coconuts.
chairs? well when i realized that the decorations were done for outside i was a lil confused... that little imagination of mine didn't add up to real life. and i couldn't let it be. so putting more stress on everyone.. i grabbed the bridesmaids again and began cutting up some scraps of fabric and cut up more plastic cloths and Wahhh LahhH!!! perfection.
maybe my reception looked more like disneyland than a wedding.. but hey! i was practically born in the womb of minnie mouse. cut me some slack!

everything was put together and my brother in law matt mayry brought his fabulous mocktails to add the final touch creating perfect mint juleps!
with what time was left, we ran home and got ready.

everyone left! with a car.. and thats right..

mister longie and i were left at home. with no transportation except for the transportation heavenly father gave us.. FEET! so.......... we WALKED!
although the reception was small... it was so nice to see those people that have been with me for so many years of my life.
with speeches from the Maid of honor and Best man and a few games...

the reception was a hit!

and how could i forget the dance parrtayyyy with the BOMB chandelier my pops made from SCRATCH? or the LASER beams the glittered up the dance floor?

my dad definitely got the hook ups. and i LOVE HIM FOR THAT!
and off we left for a hotel but... THAT next morning we got up for diva Hung and we were off to Disneyland. second honeymoon with the fam bam again? yup. WE JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!! and we just HATE being alone hahah.

and that is how we solidified our marriage.

next? BABIES OF COURSE!
YOU WISH!
